It is truly an honor to recommend the bilingual children’s book “Señorita Mariposa” by the author Ben Gundersheimer (also known as Mister G.) and illustrated by Marcos Almada Rivero. This beautiful book was just released a few weeks ago! The story is based off one of Mister G’s songs and inspired through his international travels.
I love the idea to motivate children to protect the Monarch butterflies. During one of my vacation trips to the Florida Keys, I had the opportunity to visit “The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory” and it was an amazing experience. I had so much fun and learned so much about butterflies around the world. Books like this one are excellent educational tools to teach children to value and have empathy for nature.
Loved the high quality hard cover and pages of the book! The illustrations are marvelous! My son really enjoyed exploring and finding the butterflies in every page, he counted the butterflies in each page and appreciated the colors. Ben Gundersheimer is a Latin Grammy Award-winning artist, author, activist, and educator. Hailed as “a bilingual rock star” by the Washington Post, he was originally dubbed “Mister G” by his young students while pursuing a masters of education degree. His dynamic bilingual performances aim to dissolve borders and foster cross-cultural connections. “Señorita Mariposa,” based on his orginal song of the same title, is his first picture book. He lives in the woods of Western Masachussetts with his wife, Katherine, rescue mutt, Josie, and cat, Chloe Bird.
